Getting around by bus: what Tromsø's network covers
Tromsø's public bus network is run by Troms Fylkestrafikk (TFF), which operates 28 routes across the municipality[1]. The routes most useful for visitors are lines 24, 26, 40, and 42, connecting the city centre, the Tromsøbrua bridge crossing, the airport corridor, and residential areas north and east of the harbour.
Tickets are bought through the Svipper app, TFF's official mobile ticketing system[2]. You can pay on board on some routes, but the app gives a small fare discount and saves fumbling for Norwegian cash while standing in -10°C. Weekday buses operate from 7am to 11pm, with reduced frequency on Sundays and some Friday/Saturday late-night services added. One note about the Tromsøbrua bridge: it is technically open to pedestrians and cyclists. In summer that crossing makes sense. Ferries: island routes and the Lyngen crossing

City-centre viewing works on high-activity nights (Kp 4 and above) from any park or elevated point that faces north away from the main streetlights.
